Quote of the Day

If God is dead, somebody is going to have to take His place...it'll be either megalomania or erotomania...the drive for power or the drive for pleasure...the clenched fist or the phallus...Hitler or Hugh Hefner.

I think this is obviously a false dilemma. That said, I wonder how God could be dead if he never existed in the first place. Alternatively, which of the 3,000 some odd Gods that people have worshipped has died? Alternatively, erotomania sounds good. I'm pretty sure that on my death bed the regrets I'll have, assuming I'll have any, will be for pleasures foregone.

I always liked Kurt Vonnegut's idea of the Church of God the Indifferent, his theory being that since God was obviously able to take care of himself, people didn't have to worry about him and could spend more of their time looking after each other.

Sounds like wishful thinking to me.
